Apropos a news item carried by Business Recorder on January 30 (Saturday), which reports about arrest of directors of Abbas Steel Group (ASG), the ASG has clarified that so far no officials of the group has been arrested. Out of the five FIRs, which have been registered in the Steel Mills corruption cases, the group''s directors have been nominated only in one FIR, relating to purchase of billets.

Some unknown persons have intensely targeted Abbas Group due to its owner''s relations with top government officials or may be die to business rivalry to ditch the group.

Group is working with PSMA for 25 years and paying millions of rupees taxes to the exchequer and the group has been nominated in PSMC corruption case without solid evidence. Needless to say that they do not hold any official position in Pakistan Steel and they are private person.
